So you’ve booked an escape room and you want to know how to win? Well, you’ve come to the right place. We have ten tips for beating any escape room and coming out victorious! Read our ten tips to increase your chances of winning any escape room.

1st Tip: Communication is the Key

Communication is key in any escape room. Work together as a team and clearly communicate what you find and when you’ve figured out a clue or code. Clearly voicing what you’ve found or done as a team will stop other players from trying something that you may have already solved. With only 60 minutes on the clock, you can’t waste valuable time doing the same puzzle twice.

2nd Tip: Keep Searching

Look through everything in the escape room! Clues, keys or codes may be hidden in the room so don’t forget to search everything that is available to search. If you can’t solve something, it may mean you’ve missed something.

3rd Tip: Spread Out

Whether you’re two players or twenty, remember you aren’t a herd of gazelles. One part of the group may be working on one clue, while another group is working on something else. Communicating what you’re working on and what you’ve done is a part of the fun. Spread out in the room and try to work on as many clues as possible. You never know, what you might be working on could correlate to the rest of the team. Don’t clump together on one clue.

4th Tip: Organisation

Keep your clues, codes, keys and tools together as much as possible. Leaving everything in the same area of the room means you’ll know where to find it when it’s needed. Something you find at the beginning of the escape room may come in handy at the end, so it’s best to remember where you’ve left it. Being organised saves valuable time and might mean the difference between winning or losing.

5th Tip: Write Down Everything

Organisation isn’t just keeping everything together! Write down every code you find that may be useful. When you’ve used a code, cross it out so you know that puzzle is done. Writing down every code you find saves time and helps the team communicate clearly. At the beginning of the escape game, designate someone to keep track and write everything down.

6th Tip: Don’t Use Force

If something isn’t opening, it may mean that it doesn’t open! Don’t use force in escape rooms. Breaking something may mean you get out of the room before the 60 minutes is up, but being kicked out isn’t the same as winning. The fun of escape rooms is solving the puzzle. Avoid areas that your game host has said to avoid and don’t force locks or break furniture.

7th Tip: If A Code/Key Isn’t Working, Try Another Lock

If you try a code and it isn’t working, it may mean the code belongs to something else. Keep note of the code and move on to where it might be used. The same goes for keys. If a key isn’t working, it could be for something else. Keep your codes and keys organised and try them at different places until you find where it belongs.

8th Tip: Know When To Move On

Try not to spend too long on one clue. If the team gets stuck on one puzzle, best move on to the next. Don’t let yourself get bogged down and waste time. A fresh perspective later in the game may help you solve the clue easier, or it may mean that clue is missing vital information that you haven’t yet discovered. Know when to move on to the next part of the escape room to keep working to your escape.

9th Tip: Ask For Help

If you’re really stuck, don’t be afraid to ask for help! Our game hosts and even our immersive characters can offer help when it’s asked for. If you really can’t figure something out, they may give you information to help you figure out the puzzle and escape.

10th Tip: Don’t Give Up!

It’s never too late to escape! The best advice for beating an escape room is to never give up. We’ve had people escape with just 1 second left on the clock, proving it’s never too late for a win.
